Dominic Angelella

Location (Philly Neighbourhood): Fishtown

Hometown: Baltimore

Current Project(s)/Band(s): I play by myself under the name Dominic, also am in Lithuania and tour with MewithoutYou. Probably some other things too!

Past Project(s)/Band(s): Drgn King, Cold Fronts, Hop Along, Nouveau Riche, and some more.

Instrument(s) you play: Guitar/Bass/Keys/computer stuff.

What else do you do in the Philly music scene? I used to book lots of shows but now I just attend lots of shows and occasionally give my friends bad advice.

Favourite Place in Philly: There's too many. Probably The Studio above The Electric Factory. It's owned by Milkboy now, but back when Larry Gold/The Roots owned space up there I spent many formative years being a dumb young musician watching immensely talented people doing their thing.

Favourite Watering Hole/Coffee Spot: Fiume was the first bar I ever went to and the first time I ever had a Citywide, which is totally a Philly thing.

Favourite Restaurant: Also too many. Silk City holds a special place in my heart.

Favourite Pizza Spot: La Rosa in South Philly or Beddia.

Favourite Philly Record Shop: Long In The Tooth/Record Exchange/R&D Vinyl

Favourite Philly Venue: Gotta be Johnny Brenda's and Everybody Hits.

Location of Photo(s): Quikstop, Fishtown

What do those location(s) mean to you?: When Joe Reinhardt and I were recording the Lithuania album, Hardcore Friends, we frequented here to cop Cheesesteaks. This is the spot.

Recording Space: My favorite recording studio is Kawari, out in Wyncote.

Favourite Philly Band(s): TOO MANY. Every band on Lame-O, Vexxed, Hop Along, Spank Rock, Spirit Of The Beehive, Amanda X, Shannen Moser, Permanent Body, Moor Mother, Cold Fronts, Muscle Tough...it just continues. The city is blessed with an insane amount of talent.

What are you listening to now: Kate Bush, Danny Brown.

Best show you’ve seen in Philly: It's a tie between Make A Rising and Mick Barr at JB's and B L A C K IE / Moor Mother at Everybody Hits!

If you could sum up in one sentence what Philly / Philly music scene means to you, what would it be? Cheap and plentiful.

Life motto: "gonna retire out when i die out" -lil wayne

Random Fun Fact: I just saw Van Morrison and it was great.

Childhood Dream Job: What I'm doing right now.

Pets: I have good dog energy right now.

Future plans: Gonna lay down and get back up again every day.
